    JOB PURPOSE

    Database Administrator (Oracle) role will need to ensure the availability, reliability and stable Operation of the Production Infrastructure and Database Systems. This includes maintaining, supporting and optimizing key functional areas, including, Server Infrastructure, Clustering and Database Applications

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsible for all Oracle Databases instances (Virtual, Native Servers and ExaData)

    Implements, optimizes and maintains Databases high availability best practices aiming to ensure maximum Availability to the solution

    Implements and maintains complex Database Systems and Applications involved with these Databases (Store Procedures, Reports, Query optimizations, etc.)

    Ensures the best standards and recommendations for the Database Platform (Clustering, Hardware, OS, Configuration, Technologies)

    Measures and understand/analyze Performance Metrics and recommend improvements based on baselines and behavior under different conditions

    Able to implement different Tests/PoCs in order to recommend best configuration

    Enforces Database Telemetry and visibility of main Database/Products KPIs

    Ensures Security and Disaster Recovery standards for Databases including Backups, restore, recovery, auditing and health checks

    Recommends and document restore/DR drills and align with internal/external audits

    Understands other Database Technologies like Redis, MySQL and PostgreSQL

    Experienced implementing Standard Operating Procedures like installations, configurations, patch management, monitoring and version upgrades

    Basic knowledge on Storage Technologies and recommendations for best integration and performance with different Database Platforms

    Incident Management handling in coordination with Operations Teams (Escalation points)

    Good knowledge of SQL programming and optimizations

    Works towards continuous improvement and gaining efficiencies

    Responsible for Deployment Process of Database Scripts through different Environments and provide feedback to ensure Production Deployments are as safe as possible

    Provides quick recovery solutions to ensure business continuity

    Documentation for Database Environments/Platforms (Run-books and SOPs)

    Able to provide Performance Reports for further analysis of possible optimizations

    Able to time manage tasks and deliverables for the required Projects and Initiatives

    Maintains Database Standards and ensure Best Practices at all times

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • 4+ years administering Oracle Databases and Platforms in their different versions
    • Experience with Oracle different Tools and Licenses (Enterprise Manager, Golden Gate, etc.)
    • Projects experience in migrating and upgrading Oracle Database Technologies
    • Proficient in Linux OS and other Database Technologies like Redis, MySQL and PostgreSQL
    • Experienced fine-tuning and optimizing Database configurations and performance
    • Very good understanding of SQL Programming and execution plans
    • Valuable experience with different Monitoring Tools (like ElasticSearch, Kibana, OEM)
    • Ability to work On-call and in a 24/7 Shifting and flexible environment
    • Ability to read and analyze business processes, procedures, training material
    • Ability to quickly learn and effectively implement new Database Technologies 

    SKILLS

    • Familiarity with Amazon AWS/GCP/Oracle (or any other Cloud provider)
    • Monitoring Tools experience and Analysis like Database APMs (NewRelic/AppDynamics)
    • Interested in full Application/Environment performance and behaviour 
    • Familiar with Automation and other Provisioning/Configuration Management Tools (CI/CD)
    • Familiarity with Containers/Docker, Vagrant (Testing/Integration Environments)
    • Knowledge of Linux Systems in general
