Our client, the largest franchisee of French giant group CARREFOUR owned and operated by MAJID AL FUTTAIM in Uganda is looking for a Assistant Store Financial Controller. The middle East based group is currently operating more than 375 Carrefour Stores in 17 countries with more than 37000 employees
Job Purpose
The Assistant Store Financial Controller is responsible for assisting the Store Financial Controller in preparing financial reports of the stores objectives. The role holder is also responsible for the store stock take process from the controlling stage to the validation stage
Duties and Responsibilities
Budget and Cost Control
- Assist with monitoring store budget to ensure compliance and highlight possible issues
- Provide inputs on the preparation of budget when necessary
- Provide inputs on cost reduction for the store
Internal Control and Audit
- Review the fixed asset register
- Support the process of monitoring stock-check, sleeping stock, receiving controls and analysing shrinkage result
- Provide support during regular audits on the Cash Office to minimize cash flow risks, help prepare a report about required corrective actions and support the store management with solution proposals for improvement
- Report on the implementation of Internal Audit recommendations
Reporting
- Support the process of store performance analysis by Departments/Sections
- Assist with the preparation of business presentations and reports for various stakeholders periodic and ad hoc reports as and when required
- Provide assets summary of information to the management regularly
- Aid business analysis and modelling including:
- Monthly financial closing (budgetary control, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)
- Monthly forecast
- Annual budget
- Store turnover
- Cash flow
Human Capital Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and seek professional development opportunities to improve leadership and technical skills pertaining to the direct line of work
- Apply and follow the Company’s corporate policies and relevant procedures and instructions
- Provide training and feedback to direct reportees when required
Financial Responsibilities
- Ensure alignment of procedures in accordance with the Delegation of Authority (DOA)
- Assist in monitoring allocated budget to ensure compliance and highlight possible issues
- Provide inputs on cost reduction measures
Definition of Success
- Payments made on a timely basis
- Financial report error rate
- Adherence to all regulatory specifications
- Accuracy and promptness in managing bookkeeping and producing reports
Qualification, Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in finance, Business Administration or Commerce
Certification in Accounting – Level 2+
Minimum experience
- 2+ years in a similar role,
- 1+ year in the retail business – added advantage
