ECHO KABUL OFFICE
The European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) funds relief operations for victims of natural disasters and conflicts outside the European Union. For humanitarian aid, the Commission works with about 200 operational partners, including United Nations agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent movement, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Aid is channelled impartially, straight to victims, regardless of their race, ethnic group, religion, gender, age, nationality, or political affiliation.
ECHO announces the position for DRIVERS (3 Posts) for its office based in Kabul. This position is open to nationals and other residents of Afghanistan with valid work and residence permits.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The jobholders provide reliable and safe driving services by driving the office vehicle for transporting authorised personnel; meet EU officials and visitors at the airport and support with visa and customs formalities arrangements when required. They load/unload vehicles and ensure day-to-day maintenance of vehicles. They ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies are available in the vehicles; and contribute to the preparations for field missions. They report immediately of any accident, incidents and/or any development in the operational environment. They get, deliver, and register mail when needed; assists in filing and photocopying; translates and interprets when required.

THE EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
The contract is initially for one year with possibility of renewal subject to a successful completion a 3- month probationary period and following a positive annual evaluation.
As an indication, the monthly basic salary range is on average approximately EUR 1,426 which corresponds to five years of relevant experience and will be adapted according to the exact duration of relevant professional experience supported by a work certificate. Besides the basic salary, the employee will receive disability/retirement allowance, 13th month salary, transportation allowance, food allowance, as well as a medical coverage. (The salary is subject to local taxes.)
