  • QUANTITATIVE FIELD INTERVIEWERS

    The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa.

    APHRC is implementing a research project, titled, The effect of community led interventions on handwashing with soap in low-income settlements of Mombasa, Kenya-The RECKITT study. The aim of the study is to examine the effect of a community handwashing intervention on handwashing with soap in the low-income areas of Mombasa in Kenya. The study will be implemented in two villages in Junda ward/location through a cluster randomized controlled trial with quantitative and qualitative data collection.

    APHRC seeks to recruit qualified and experienced quantitative field interviewers who are residents of Mombasa, where the study will take place between April and May 2025.

    Responsibilities: 


    • Participate in training and data collection for the study.

    • Consenting study participants.

    • Conducting surveys and observations with the study respondents.

    • Compiling and submitting daily work progress reports to the immediate supervisor.

    • Reviewing and correcting inconsistencies identified from data quality checks.

    • Ensuring the safety of all survey tools and equipment as may be assigned for use in the study.

    • Attending and participating in all routine project meetings.

    • Ensuring that study participants in the assigned sample list are fully accounted for by the end of the data collection period.

    Minimum requirements:


    • Must have at least a KCSE (C+) and above.

    • Be a resident of Mombasa County, and preferably from Junda - Kisauni.

    • Be proficient in microcomputer applications and experienced in electronic data capture.

    • Be fluent in English and Kiswahili.

    • Possess strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and facilitation skills.

    • Have proven experience in quantitative research methods.

    • Proven experience working with households in informal/low-income settlements.

    • Be prepared to work full-time on the project for the study duration.
