Location: Nairobi (temporary) and then permanently in Kilifi County.
Our client in vegetable oil extraction, is seeking to recruit a Plant Manager. Successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational readiness and set-up the operational management system before plant start-up. Also, to direct and coordinate daily operations of the oil extraction plant.
Main accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Develop Operation Readiness deliverables
- Build the operational management system
- Recruit, manage and develop plant staff resources
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations
- Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
- Be responsible for integrity and maintenance of the asset
- Optimize production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
- Lead implementation of HSE aspects in the operations
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Engineering or Business management
- 10 years in plant manager or similar position
Language
- Fluent knowledge of English and local language
Required knowledge, technical or professional skills
- Proven work experience as a Plant Manager
- Proven managerial experience
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory
- Computer literacy
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
